Xtreme LED NIR Add-on

This add-on adds two independently controllable colors of light to the spectrum of the parent fixture.

  • Far-red (700‑750nm), sometimes called NIR, IR-A, or just IR and
  • UV-A (350‑400nm) light
Benefits
Far-red
  • Stretching plants in the growing phase with extra far-red
  • Growing very compact initially (far-red off) and when switching to the flowering phase, the synergetic effect of the extra far-red can be exploited
  • Accelerate the nighttime metabolism and the sleep rhythm to accelerate flower setting and possibly shorten the night and lengthen the day for more photosynthesis (higher DLI)
UV‑A
  • The plant will generate more terpenes
  • Increases resistance to bacteria and other pathogens
  • Makes the plant stronger and healthier. The leaves will become darker green
  • Adds extra photons, resulting in more photosynthesis and more yield

Local control of add-ons via the parent fixture is not yet supported. They can, however, be controlled stand-alone. For this, only daisy-chain the power cord, but leave both Smartports unconnected. ⮕ Consult the add-on manual for operating instructions.

When the parent fixture is controlled by a Maxi Controller or Smart Controller, the extra channels will automatically be relayed to the add-on(s).

For the Maxi Controller, a setting must be changed to output add-on signals (⮕ See chapter Chaining Fixtures, section New Maxi Controller).
